Early Careers Teachers

At Blessed Thomas Holford, we are committed to offering all Early Career Teachers the highest levels of support to ensure their development into outstanding classroom practitioners.

All of our ECTs follow a bespoke programme of training and CPD, based on the Early Career Framework and grounded in the teaching standards. Development of practise is honed through a tailored CPD programme ran by our partners at the Bright Futures teaching hub. Additional, personalised training sessions are offered weekly through our in-house development programme; through this programme ECTs focus on areas such as: safeguarding, behaviour management, SEND pupils, the OFSTED framework, pushing more able pupils and wellbeing.

Each ECT at Blessed Thomas Holford is assigned a teaching mentor to work with during their first two years in the classroom. Through weekly meetings, classroom drop-ins and personalised support all ECTs are able to garner the expertise of an outstanding teacher within their department.

Further support includes the use of our coaching programme, full school CPD sessions, observations of our outstanding teachers and wellbeing programmes.

Partnering with Bright Futures Teaching Hub, we will guide our ECTs through their two year induction process, utilising the Teach First Programme. Please see the link below for further information: http://allianceforlearning.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/BFET-TSH-YourGuide.pdf
