Sixth Form
We opened our Sixth Form in September 2011 and have had the privilege of educating our students across 25 A-Level and vocational subjects. Our students thrive academically, personally, socially and spiritually. Our college our motto asks ‘May God’s love be our guide‘ and this is reflected throughout our Sixth Form.
Our Sixth Form is a place of prayer, kindness, patience, perseverance, hope and protection. We all want the best for our young people as they are our gift, so selecting the right Sixth Form is an important decision. We offer a joyful, stimulating and enthusing curriculum to prepare our students for the post-18 world supported by high quality pastoral care.
When you join us as a Sixth Form student, you’ll be encouraged to explore the whole range of your talents. We want you to reach your academic potential, but we also want you to enjoy yourself, find out about who you are, what you stand for and prepare to use your faith, passion, abilities and personality out in the world! The two years are packed full of new experiences and opportunities and, alongside the hard work, there is plenty of time for fun! We continue to build the BTH family in the Sixth Form and strongly believe that once you have been a student in our Sixth Form, you remain part of our family for life!
There is always something extra to get involved with in Sixth Form at Blessed Thomas Holford, above and beyond your studies. By taking part in these extra opportunities, you’ll not only be having fun, meeting new people, or strengthening existing friendships – you’ll also be developing important skills for work and life.
As a Sixth Former you lead on charity and fundraising activities supporting organisations such as CAFOD and Caritas. In our local community, you can put your faith into action and can get involved in supporting the local foodbanks, providing Christmas hampers to the elderly or hosting Macmillan coffee mornings. As a student here, you are an integral part of our whole-school community; and can support students in other year groups through subject mentoring or pastoral mentoring. The curriculum in our Core RE programme also affords our students the opportunity and time to come together to reflect and organise opportunities for collective worship. Our Sixth formers take an active part in the celebration of the word and lead the student participation at whole school level. Our students run clubs and societies, such as Amnesty International and plan activities to celebrate diversity or raise awareness during events such as 'International Women’s Day' or our recent cultural day. Many of our students join the Sixth Form Ambassador team to develop their leadership skills and give back to the school community.
Our Sixth Form here at Blessed Thomas Holford is a busy and thriving student community and we are proud of what our students achieve during their time with us. I do hope Blessed Thomas Holford will be the choice for you. We will nurture the gifts and talents of each young person in our care allowing them to become who God called them to be, sending them out into the world confident, principled, and loved.
