Whether you’re thinking about university, an apprenticeship, employment or another pathway, our Sixth Form team will help you explore your options and find the route that’s right for you.
Careers Programme
Throughout Years 12 and 13, students have access to:
- Careers advice and one to one guidance
- University and apprenticeship information
- Employer and careers events
- Work experience opportunities
- Support with applications, personal statements and interviews
- Apprenticeship and employment opportunities
- University visits and higher education events
- Enrichment and volunteering opportunities to build skills and experience

Work Experience
Every Year 12 student has the opportunity to complete a week of work experience during the summer term.
It’s a great chance to step outside the classroom, experience the world of work and explore an area that interests you. Students can use the week to develop valuable skills, build confidence and gain experience that will support their future plans.
Post 18 Progression
In addition to general careers and progression advice, the College has a significant programme to support progression to higher education, including:
- A large scale careers fair at the College
- Access to Unifrog, a one-stop-shop where students can easily explore their interests, then find and successfully apply for their next best step after school. Unifrog helps students to explore their key interests and what career paths they can take to reach their goals!
- A dedicated success information Evening for parents
- Specialist advice and support throughout Year 13 via specialist pastoral tutors
- Dedeicated support and guidance for UCAS and apprenticeships applications
- Support from highly qualified teaching staff
- Opportunities to visit universities

One-to-One Support
Each student throughout the two years at BTHCC is supported by a careers advisor in terms of career planning, preparing for either post 18 employment or training or for a higher education course. Students meet their careers advisor as part of the and also supported by their form tutor to ensure a secure destination is achieved.
All students in Year 12 and 13 can make an appointment with the College’s Careers advisor as required.
Working with us
We regularly engage with a wide host of businesses and universities through events such as the careers fair, mock interviews, assemblies and guest speakers.
