HELPING US TO ALL BECOME SAINTS - Worship and prayer are central to the life of the college and we seek to provide engaging, innovative and creative experiences of the richness of the Catholic tradition.
MAKING GOD'S LOVE OUR GUIDING CURRICULUM - The curriculum has been designed to inspire and challenge all learners and prepare them for adult life. The college aims to develop a broad and balanced curriculum that helps all our students to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
DOING GOOD TO EVERYONE WITHOUT PARTIALITY - Each and every one of our students are special and have their own talents. The hard work and commitment to education we see from our students is wonderful. Working along side their teachers and each other they strive for excellence in everything they do.
LOVE MAKES US SIMILAR; IT CREATES EQUALITY, IT BREAKS DOWN WALLS AND ELIMINATES DISTANCE - We are a family here at Blessed Thomas Holford and we have a commitment to the young people in our care, encouraging and inspiring every child to fulfil their God-given potential and to flourish. We place as much emphasis on the pastoral care and faith development of the child as we do on academic excellence.
PASTORAL MISSION WHICH IS KIND, PATIENT AND PROTECTS, HOPES AND PERSEVERES - We aim to develop students to become well-rounded citizens who are equipped to face the challenges in our modern society. Through a variety of topics, students are encouraged to question and discuss their own beliefs and understanding of various issues that affect them and those who live and work around them.

"All of my teachers are very friendly and make lessons fun! There are lots of opportunities for you to join clubs and teams here, like design technology, trampolining, dance, football, choir and many more. Design technology is definitely my favourite subject though! I am really enjoying Year 8 very much and I am sure that the next few years at BTHCC will be very happy ones!"
"Personal Development is really interesting this year, we have been learning about Black History month and Equality and how we can make a positive impact on the world around us.
“We try hard in our lessons and the work is quite challenging at times but if we struggle we can always ask the teacher. I love our sports facilities and playing basketball for the school.”
Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College is rated as ‘good’ in all areas - ‘there is a calm yet joyful atmosphere in the school.’
This is the college’s first inspection since October 2022, and inspectors were highly impressed with the academic achievements and personal growth of the students at Blessed Thomas Holford stating ‘the school has high levels of ambition for pupils’ academic achievement. Pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, achieve highly. Students in the sixth form successfully develop their independent study skills. Their attainment is high.’
The report commended BTHCC for preparing its students exceptionally well for life beyond BTHCC, stating: ‘The school has placed strong emphasis on ensuring that pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils learn about different cultures and religions. This gives them an appreciation and understanding of difference.’
Inspectors praised the consistent application of high expectations and routines by staff and the older students as mature role models. ‘The school’s routines are firmly embedded. These have helped to cultivate a culture where pupils are ready to learn and eager to succeed. There is rarely any disruption to learning. ‘
Ofsted inspectors added: ‘A culture and love of reading is embedded across the curriculum. Pupils read widely and often.’
Headteacher Clare Hogg is delighted with the result and congratulated the staff, students, governors and families on the achievement and thanked them for their commitment to ensuring that BTHCC continues to provide the best education and care possible.
Mrs Hogg said: “We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised the dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work of our entire BTHCC family. This report reflects the unique opportunities and support we offer enabling our students to be who God calls them to be. BTHCC is a very special, joyful and wonderful place to belong and we cherish our college family”
Canon Pat Munroe said “OFSTED makes reference on the BTHCC approach to being inclusive of those with disability and respect for the dignity of the human person… The Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic family are a source of Hope in this Holy Year: 'Pilgrims of Hope".
