The below data and information show the progress and outcomes of our students from the GCSE 2025 examination series. The data is not validated by the Department of Education yet.

Headline Figures:

  • 67% of the cohort achieved GCSE passes at grade 4 and above in English and mathematics.
  • 43% of the cohort achieved GCSE passes at grade 5 and above in English and mathematics.
  • The Attainment 8 (A8) score for this cohort is 4.93.
  • 9% of the students were entered for the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) with 75% of those students entered for the EBacc achieving it. All students at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College are given the opportunity to follow the EBacc curriculum if they wish.
  • 66% of the cohort achieved five GCSEs at grade 4+ including English and mathematics. 41% of the cohort achieved five GCSEs at grade 5+ including English and mathematics.

A large proportion of the cohort have continued their education at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College’s sixth form studying A-levels and AAQ/BTEC qualifications, as well as being joined in the sixth form by a number of students from other schools.

The careers guidance our students received as part of their studying of the personal development curriculum at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College and additional careers guidance support has helped our students access apprenticeships and further post-16 study at a range of colleges within Trafford and Manchester.

The 2024 GCSE examination series was the third year of external examinations since the Covid-19 pandemic and the college’s 3 year trend of results is outlined below.

The data below and information show the progress and outcomes of our students at KS5 in the 2025 examination series.

Headline Figures:

 

  • 21% of all grades achieved were at A*-A
  • 48% of all grades achieved were at A*-B
  • 75% of all grades achieved were at A*-C

80% of our Key Stage 5 students have gone on to undergraduate courses, with 1/3 of these being at Russell Group Universities.

A number of our students have secured higher and degree level apprenticeships with the remaining students entering employment or embarking on a GAP year.
