Congratulations to our students in Year 13 and Year 11 for another set of excellent examination results in 2016.
The Year 13 pass rate is 99% with almost a third of grades at A*/A. Our results day saw many exceptional performances with Alex Morris, Francesca Downie, Maddie Sheldon and Rachel Scerri gaining 12 A*/A grades between them. In 2016 our university entrance rate remains exceptional with 98% of our students entering university this year. We are proud to send our pupils to study for a degree at places such as Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham.
Our GCSE results were excellent again placing us ahead of the high schools in Trafford.
- The A*-C pass rate for English is 90% and for Maths is 81%.
- The percentage for 5+ A*-C, including English and Maths is 78%
- The proportion of top grades was exceptional with over half of our pupils gaining 5 A*-B grades in their GCSE passes
In 2016 the Government introduced a new accountability measure called Progress 8 which measures the progress pupils make from Year 7 to Year 11. It is considered to be the most important indication of a school’s success. This year our progress 8 figure will be + 0.71 which means our pupils achieved 7 grades better in their GCSE examinations than expected – an excellent achievement.
One outcome of our continuing excellent results is that our enrolment to Sixth Form is high. In September 2016 we will have 160 exceptional students in our 6th form studying for A Level and BTEC examinations.
